Intermountain Opera Bozeman, Montana’s most widely acclaimed and well respected opera company, begins its 2017-2018 40th Season Anniversary with the Americana classic, Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land.
In a vivid portrait of the rural Midwest, the American dream and youthful spirit come to life in Aaron Copland’s only opera, The Tender Land. The opera highlights an episode in the lives of Laurie, her family and two migrant workers in a quintessential coming of age story set during the Great Depression. Inspired by Depression era photographs in James Agee’s book Let Us Now Praise Famous Men the score is cut from the same cloth as that of Appalachian Spring – the melodic, folkish music that defines Aaron Copland.
The Tender Land will have only two performances, Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 15 at 3 p.m. Both performances will be at the Willson Auditorium, 404 West Main Street, Bozeman, Montana. Reservations are strongly recommended. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Intermountain Opera Bozeman office at (406) 587-2889 or by visiting the website at http://intermountainopera.org. Remaining tickets will also be on sale at the door beginning one hour before performance. Prices range from $25.00 to $75.00
