The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at MSU is partnering with the Belgrade Community Library to host a presentation on “Montana's Ordinary and Extraordinary Fishes” at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 at the library. This event is free and open to the public.
Tom McMahon, a professor in the Department of Ecology at Montana State University, will discuss the identification, ecology, conservation, and little-known facts about fish species found in Montana.
Tom McMahon has taught ichthyology and other fish ecology and management courses at MSU for the past 30 years. He and his graduate students have researched many different aspects of fish ecology in Montana, focusing on the conservation of native and recreationally important salmonids. He has studied fishes along the Pacific coast, the deserts of Arizona and Mexico, and in the forests of British Columbia and Oregon.
