Lisa Rickenbaugh + Bellwether Handwoven

"I’ve always been drawn to craftsmanship, especially in our homes. Growing up on a dairy farm in Massachusetts instilled in me a deep appreciation for handmade objects that carry a strong sense of place. As a result, I opened Heyday in downtown Bozeman Montana, where along with my team I curated collections of home goods predominantly made by American artisans.

After selling Heyday, I attended graduate school at Savannah College of Art and Design in Textile Design. I focused my work on the current state of the textile industry in the US and I learned how to hand weave with natural undyed wool. Bellwether Handwoven is the culmination of this research.

Handcrafted in small run collections, Bellwether handwoven wool pillows and throws set a new benchmark for clean and organic home goods. Our mission is to reinvigorate the US wool industry through regional sourcing and manufacturing. The fl eece is grown on sheep from small Montana farms, the yarn is processed at local mills and the distinctive design is woven by skilled artisans, making the supply circle traceable, sustainable and supportive for a newly imagined textile standard."
