Art + Cinema Night

Intermountain Opera Bozeman (IOB) and Raison D’être Dance (RDE) Project present “Art + Cinema Night” at The Emerson Center for Arts and Culture on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. This collaboration brings together two Bozeman arts organizations and numerous local artists for a celebration of opera, cinema, dance, and visual art.

Intermountain Opera Bozeman brings back its new hit “The Montana Mikado” with a one-night-only film screening of the full performance at The Emerson Crawford Theater on April 19 at 7p.m.. Adapted from the original Gilbert and Sullivan opera, an all new libretto by Soren Kisiel puts a local and contemporary twist on a classic. Bozeman audiences raved about the live performances of “The Montana Mikado” in February 2022. Viewers describe the show as “relevant, smart, funny lyrics, beautiful music & singing, and acting, dancing, staging … really the whole package!”

Professionally filmed by Nathan Norby, with audio recordings by Jereco Studios, “The Montana Mikado'' film captures the energy and excitement of the live performance. The film screening begins at 7 p.m. in the Emerson Crawford Theater. General Admission tickets with multiple pricing options are available at intermountainopera.org.

From 5-10p.m. on April 19 in The Emerson Ballroom, Raison D’être Dance Project hosts its first ever “Pop-Up Art Fair” and art auction. Featuring visual art of all different media, the “Pop-Up Art Fair” gives local artists an opportunity to sell and promote their work. Each artist has a piece featured in an art auction. Attendees can bid on pieces in a silent auction. During intermission of “The Montana Mikado”, RDE will host a live art auction for specific pieces. Participants include ceramic artists, metalsmiths, painters, welders, photographers, and more. Admission to the art fair is free and open to all ages. Tickets for the film screening next door will be available at the art fair. More information about Raison D’être Dance Project at raisondetredance.org
