Americans have always been a mobile people, ready to hit the road for work, play, or adventure. “Old Wheels” is a celebration of vintage cars, trucks, and the stations that supported them. In her exploration of a disappearing west, Helen Rietz paints portraits of these old wheels, showing not just their physical forms but also their faces, character, and stories. She works in watercolor, but uses the medium more like oil, creating unique effects. Her signature style, rich in color and “you can feel it” texture makes this part of our past come alive again.
