All the Beauty and the Bloodshed presented by the Bozeman Doc Series

On Thursday, February 9th, the Bozeman Doc Series presents one of the most critically-acclaimed films of the year, the Oscar-nominated new documentary, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, from Academy Award-winning director Laura Poitras.

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is an epic, emotional and interconnected story about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin told through her slideshows, intimate interviews, ground-breaking photography, and rare footage of her personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the overdose crisis.

Nominated for the upcoming Best Documentary Oscar, the film has received widespread critical acclaim since it’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where it became only the second documentary to be awarded the Golden Lion as the best film at the festival.

“It’s art. A work of devastating power. As a filmmaker, Laura Poitras has burnished her bona fides as an investigative journalist, notably in Citizenfour, which captured whistleblower history in the making. There are elements of you-are-there immediacy and insider access in her exquisite new film, but All the Beauty and the Bloodshed takes her work to new aesthetic heights and wrenching emotional depths. A sublime and gritty knockout.” The Hollywood Reporter

“Where life wounds, art and fellowship can heal, or at the very least, cauterize into the most expressive of scars. Photographer Nan Goldin knows this as much as anyone, her life’s journey from suburban captivity to outsider freedom, from Polaroid chronicler of her circle of intimates to consequential artist/activist, is all on moving, enriching display in Oscar-winning filmmaker Laura Poitras’ enthralling documentary.” The Los Angeles Times

Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets are available at the door or before the show online at www.bozemandocseries.org, where you can also buy Season Passes and 7-film punch cards, learn more about the series, and view trailers for upcoming films.
