African Inspirations: Conservation Successes in Hwange National Park

Gallatin Valley Earth Day and Moraway Adventures are pleased to offer an evening talk with Zimbabwean Professional Guide, Mark Butcher, as he shares success stories from the frontlines of conservation in Africa. Mark's 40-year conservation career has included many roles, from game ranger to Provincial Wildlife Officer to guide to his current role as managing director of Imvelo Safari Lodges. Mark will discuss the successful efforts to eradicate elephant poaching in his backyard of Hwange National Park, the recent reintroduction of white rhinos after they were poached out of existence decades ago, and the common thread that made these achievements possible: empowerment and involvement of the local communities.
