Pachelbel is known for his ubiquitous wedding Canon in D, but most don't know that everything he composed is likely to inspire a tear. Baroque Music Montana (BaMM) presents "Pachebel's Musical Delights" named for his collection of this title, performed from Ennis to Shepherd June 10-17 with two violins, organ, and lute. Pachelbel's partitas of dance tunes and songs is written for scordatura or 'mis-tuned' violins, indicating a different string tuning for each of the pieces to enhance their unique intention and expressive effect, and five violins will be used in making this program possible. Interspersed with these suites are virtuoso solo violin sonatas by H.I.F. Biber, employing the highest notes yet written for violin at the time of their composition in 1681. Musicians include L.A. based violinist, violist, composer, and professor at Cal-Arts Andrew McIntosh, local violinist, Bozeman Symphony concertmaster, and BaMM director Carrie Krause, Seattle based lutenist John Lenti who frequently performs with the Met Opera as well as coast to coast, and L.A. based, London-trained, historical keyboardist Ian Pritchard.
