Old Main Gallery is pleased to feature the work of Bruce Park during the month of December. An Opening Reception will take place on Friday, December 6th from 5-7pm. This event is open to the public.
Partly Cloudy features new works by Bruce Park. This exhibition is an example of how Park honors the subject of landscape through pastel and oil paintings which convey unexpected and wonderful relationships with the world. Each painting, becoming a meditation on the relationships between light, beauty, and the sublime.
Each moment on a "Partly Cloudy" day can lead to big changes in the way I see light and color as it plays on the clouds and land. The possibility of seeing dynamic shadows floating along the foothills, mountains and valley gives rise to my efforts to capture the beauty I see and love. It is the ultimate opportunity to view an incredible color play of intense hues throughout the day, especially at sunrise and sunset. -Bruce Park
Bruce Park has been drawing, printmaking, and painting for over 35 years. Parks professional art career began in 1986 upon completion of a BFA in drawing and an MFA in painting.
Currently, Park makes his living doing both fine art and graphic design. In the last 30 years he
has participated in 60 solo/two person exhibitions and over 110 group/invitational exhibitions. Parks paintings belong to more than 80 corporate, public and private collections. Bruce has lived and worked in Bozeman, Montana since 1979.
Parks Paintings focus on exploring formal shapes and textures to emphasize his personal experience and reflections on the land. Using layers of color, Park is able to express the intensity of a summer sunset, the gentle light after an afternoon rain or the vivid hues of autumn. All in an effort to further intimate human connections with the earth, through simple gestures of painting and drawing.
