June's Featured Artist

Javier Moreno and Brenna Giessen

Javier Moreno and Brenna Giessen

I’m Brenna and I’m a self-taught artist currently living in beautiful Bozeman, MT with my two kids.  I’ve always loved creating and have pursued different creative outlets throughout my life. I started painting at the age of 24 and fell in love with being able to explore and express my thoughts and feelings through mark making, color and texture. I’m deeply inspired by nature, music, people and anything unique and imperfect, and I hope to communicate and connect with people through my work.  I believe nature can cure many things, relationships and people are most important and that pink should have been my natural hair color. My main tools of choice are acrylic, oil pastels, soft pastels, charcoal and graphite on canvas or cradled birch wood panels.
My work has been featured in:
Anthropologie
Serena and Lily
Better Homes & Gardens Magazine 2015

Javier Moreno is a Bozeman, Montana–based
artist whose work celebrates the spirit, motion,
and energy of the American West. Moreno began
creating art at the age of six and was already
selling his paintings to neighbors by the age of
eleven. That early passion for creativity grew
into a lifelong pursuit of artistic expression and
connection with others through visual
storytelling.
In 2012, Moreno began gaining recognition for
his detailed pen and ink drawings, earning an
award at the 20th Annual Arts & Harmony Show
in Minneapolis. The recognition helped
strengthen his commitment to developing his
own distinctive voice as an artist.
Today, Moreno’s work focuses on expressive
Western and wildlife subjects, often blending
realism with energetic brushwork and bold
compositions. He also creates portraits of iconic
cultural figures who have helped shape Western
and American pop culture, including Clint
Eastwood, Raquel Welch, and Marilyn Monroe.
Through these subjects, Moreno explores both
the mythology of the West and the enduring
influence of cultural icons.
Moreno’s work has been exhibited and collected
across the United States, with collectors from
coast to coast. His goal with every painting is to
create something that feels alive—bringing
energy, movement, and emotional presence into
the homes of those who collect his work.
