GVYMCA: YMCA CHILD WATCH/BIRTHDAY PARTY ASSOCIATE Job Title: Part Time Child Watch/Birthday Party Associate Start Date: ASAP FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 5-25 hrs/week; 7 days per week. Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Saturday & Sunday hours available. Reports to: Camps & Family Programs Coordinator/Camps & Family Progrmas Director Pay Scale: $14.50/hour POSITION SUMMARY: Child Watch Attendants are responsible for providing a safe, caring and enriching environment for our member's children to enjoy while their parents use our YMCA Facility. All Child Watch staff will be responsible for the overall successful day-to-day running of the Y Child Watch program, as well as be responsible for high-quality childcare. Birthday Party Associates are responsible for setting up the birthday party room, running the assigned activites, provides a fun birthday party experience, cleans up the party and puts the supplies away. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for the safety of the children, classroom, and all activities at all times. 2. Assures parents are signing in children properly and presenting identification. 3. Supervises and interacts with children at play. 4. Completes required cleaning and organizing of the Child Watch room to maintain program site and equipment. 5. Maintains required program records. 6. Encourage sportsmanship and positive peer interactions 7. Attend staff meetings and trainings as needed including YMCA provided training 8. Respond to questions and concerns from parents and refers them to the Early Learning Director as needed 9. Must be able to establish and maintain relationships with other staff members, leaders, volunteers, members, participants, parents, and the general public 10. Know, educate and enforce YMCA Child Watch rules and policies to members and parents 11. Set’s up the birthday party room, runs assigned activities, provideds a fun birthday party experience cleans up the party and puts supplies away. 12. May be responsible for communicating facility needs and concerns to the Camps and Family Programs Director 13. Know the work schedule and reports to work on time or finds an approved substitute 14. Complete timesheet on a daily basis 15. Builds positive relationships with members and children in program. 16. Assume all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate. At least 16 years of age. 2. Minimum one year previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. 3. Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and provide proof of current MMR and TDap Vaccinations. 4. Infant/Child/Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certifications within 30 days of hire date. 5. Child Abuse Prevention training preferred 6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. 7. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation • Must be able to communicate clearly to all children, parents, members, and company personnel • Present a clean, well-groomed appearance • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight. • Occasionally must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. • Frequently may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking
