Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, architecture, or a related field Minimum 5 years of experience in experiential design or related field 2-5 years of art direction experience (formal management or other) Exceptional knowledge with standard design software packages within a Mac environment (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Experience with SketchUp or other 3D modeling software preferred A high level of experience in branding, signage and wayfinding programming, branded environments and visual systems High level of understanding of detailed, to-scale design and fabrication documents and understanding of architectural drawings, material specifications, and industry-standard fabrication techniques Comfortable with directing and managing the creative team and deliverables of multiple projects, the schedules and budgets Exceptional design sense while directing the integration of messaging, color, imagery, typography, and more into experiential graphics Exhibit strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills and lead by example Capable of pushing limits to explore creative possibilities when appropriate Work closely and collaboratively with architecture project managers, project architects and the greater graphic design team Ability to synthesize information from project design pillars and manage the creative process from concept to completion Ability to oversee an iterative design process that helps solve problems for clients and their stakeholders Passion for design, fueled by a desire to innovate and challenge convention Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, or possess a work visa to legally work in the U.S. A day in the life of a director of experiential design. Brainstorm big concepts one day and tackle detail-oriented projects the next Develops and articulates art direction to activate the client's business objectives and its application in inspiring experiential design Leads and/or participates in brainstorm sessions; briefs creative team members to execute concepts to their fullest and guide work through edits and finalization Responsible for managing projects with a high level of proficiency and expertise while adhering to firm and project goals and design standards Complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely and consistent way Work at a fast pace to concept Plans, executes, develops, and documents design strategies to implement, planning and programming, brand identity and storytelling, brand architecture, and brand extensions through environmental branding Participates in site analysis, including survey of existing conditions and field measurements Directs the development of strategic and conceptual design materials for presentations, leads client presentations and nurtures client relationships Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance Provide mentorship and guidance to graphic design team Presents work to clients in a succinct manner showcasing the key benefits Communicate with clients via email, phone, and video conference to present work and gain approval on concepts Overnight travel may be required from time to time Perks of the work.
