Big Sky Youth Empowerment (BYEP) is a nonprofit adventure-based mentoring program in Bozeman, Montana, that has served more than 1,000 teenagers in the Gallatin Valley for the past 22 years. BYEP offers a group social emotional life skills curriculum paired with outdoor adventures to youth in grades 7-12. Our mission is to provide opportunities for vulnerable teenagers in the Gallatin Valley to experience success, and become contributing members of our community through group mentorship and experiential adventures. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our amazing team as our Finance Manager & Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual who is able to think critically. They can professionally manage the organization’s budget of close to $2M and financial management systems with accuracy, efficiency, timeliness, and transparency. The successful candidate leads with a solution-driven approach to further the vision of the organization executing both everyday bookkeeping, as well as big picture strategic thinking and accountability. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Manager & Bookkeeper serves as the lead financial officer for the organization and is responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping needs for accounts payable (approx. 30 checks per month) and account receivable (receives and reconciles approx. 10 deposits per month), running monthly payroll (for approx. 13 employees) , reconciling multiple financial systems and accounts (bank accounts, credit cards, investment accounts, etc.), establishing and maintaining appropriate financial controls, tracking grants funding (including federal, state, and private grants), creating financial reports for staff, board, and the public, filing and maintaining financial records (electronic and paper), managing insurance benefits enrollment and ongoing payment processes, managing the annual audit reporting with an external auditor, developing and tracking budgets, and other financial-related projects as needed. This position conducts analysis of financial and operational issues, develops solutions, and works collaboratively with the BYEP staff, Board of Directors, donors, business and other community partners.
