I-Ho Pomeroy Peace Park Dedication Celebration

August 14, 2026
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Location: I-Ho Pomeroy Peace Park, Corner of Black Ave & Mendenhall

The Downtown Bozeman Partnership, together with the City of Bozeman and numerous community partners, invites the public to celebrate the dedication of I-Ho Pomeroy Peace Park on Friday, August 14 at 5pm at the corner of Mendenhall Street and North Black Avenue in downtown Bozeman.

This free community celebration will honor the remarkable life and legacy of I-Ho Pomeroy, a beloved restaurateur, community volunteer, former City Commissioner, and tireless advocate for bringing people together. The new park stands as a lasting tribute to I-Ho's kindness, generosity, leadership, and unwavering belief that great communities are built through connection, compassion, and peace.

The Dedication Celebration will feature a ribbon cutting, formal land dedication, remarks from I-Ho's family and the City of Bozeman project team, and a Peace Pole dedication by Bozeman Sunrise Rotary. Guests will also enjoy live music, refreshments, and delicious food generously provided by I-Ho's Korean Grill, the beloved downtown restaurant she founded and that continues to be operated by the Pomeroy family.

"This special park reflects I-Ho's generous spirit and commitment to public service," said Commissioner Jennifer Madgic. "She reminded all of us that helping those in need and putting family and community first are what truly matter. This park, and the many people who helped make it happen, reflect the love Bozeman has for I-Ho."

"I-Ho had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome," said Ellie Staley, Executive Director of the Downtown Bozeman Partnership. "She brought people together wherever she went, and we can't think of a more fitting tribute than a place dedicated to peace, reflection, and community. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating her extraordinary legacy."

Located on what was once an underutilized downtown corner, I-Ho Pomeroy Peace Park has been thoughtfully transformed into a welcoming public gathering space featuring Korean-inspired design elements, public art, native landscaping, gathering areas, a Rotary Peace Pole, enhanced pedestrian amenities, and sustainable stormwater improvements. More than a park, it is a place where people can pause, connect, and reflect, just as I-Ho inspired throughout her life.

"This project shows what can happen through strong community partnerships," said Addi Jadin, Parks Planner and Development Manager for the City of Bozeman. "We're especially proud that Gallatin County's Open Space Program and downtown developer cash-in-lieu funds helped create this lasting community asset without using local tax dollars."

The park was made possible through the collaboration and generosity of the Downtown Bozeman Partnership, City of Bozeman, Gallatin County Open Space Grant Program, Montana Department of Commerce Montana Main Street Grant, Bozeman Sunrise Rotary, the Pomeroy Family, as well as project consultants and contractors, donors, volunteers, and countless community members who shared the vision of creating a lasting tribute to one of Bozeman's most cherished leaders.

"This park reflects I-Ho's cultural heritage and her love for Bozeman," said Derik Pomeroy. "Our family is deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. We hope it becomes a place where people gather, find peace, and remember the kindness and generosity that meant so much to her."
