This hands-on filmmaking camp for teens entering 8th through 12th grade in fall 2026, introduces students to the complete process of creating a short movie. Over the course of one exciting week, students will write, shoot, and edit their own narrative film while learning the essentials of visual storytelling and on-set collaboration. Taught by MSU School of Film and Photography instructor Alexa Alberda, students will working in small production teams to develop a story, plan their shoot, operate cameras, record sound, light scenes, direct actors, and edit a finished narrative project. The course emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and practical skill-building. By the end of the week, each team will premiere a short fiction film at a final screening.
No prior experience or equipment is required.
