The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and the American Revolution comes to Ellen Theatre in Bozeman, Montana, on October 16th. The documentary tells the remarkable story of WBCN, the legendary Boston radio station that became much more than a place to discover new music. During a transformative era in American history, WBCN brought together rock & roll, journalism, politics, activism, and free expression, giving a platform to voices and ideas that were often missing from mainstream media. Built from an extraordinary collection of archival audio, photographs, and footage, the film brings audiences inside the music and cultural movements that defined a generation. Featuring rare moments with artists including Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Patti Smith, and more, the film is both a celebration of groundbreaking radio and a look at the power independent media can have in shaping culture and community.
