Black Avenue Stormwater Improvements Project
This summer, the City of Bozeman will continue upgrades to the century-old storm drain system in the downtown area. The existing infrastructure along Black Avenue is significantly undersized and deteriorated, requiring full replacement.
Project Details:
The City has contracted CK May Excavating to remove and replace storm drain and sewer infrastructure along Black Avenue, from Main Street to Babcock Street.
Construction Schedule (estimated, dates and times can vary):
- Monday, June 9: CK May will begin mobilizing equipment on Main Street AND South Black Avenue to the alley.
- June 9 – June 16: Work will begin on Main Street and South Black Avenue, extending to the alley.
- Mid-June through early July: Construction will continue south on Black Avenue from Main Street to Babcock Street. This phase is expected to take an additional 2–3 weeks.
Important Notes:
- There will be NO PARKING along Main Street on both sides from Tracy to Bozeman Avenue during the Main Street work to allow for traffic control from June 9-16.
- Access to local businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
- Sidewalk access will remain open but may be limited in certain areas for pedestrian safety.
- The total duration of the project (IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA) will not exceed 30 calendar days.
