Downtown Bozeman Attends De-escalation Training at HRDC

On September 17, we got to spend the morning with HRDC! Representatives from AC Hotel Bozeman, Big Sky Youth Empowerment, Cello Bozeman, Gallatin Community Gun Club, Tinworks, Rialto, Montana Ale Works and Downtown Bozeman sat in on an informative crisis de-escalation training session presented by HRDC's Safety and Support Manager, Jenna Huey! From role-playing through scenarios, to dissecting what verbal communication is made up of, to brainstorming ways to keep our community connected and safe, we had an educational morning. 

We're sharing a Situation x Response Matrix provided by HRDC, a quick-reference resource designed to help businesses determine the appropriate response to common situations involving neighbors experiencing homelessness, behavioral health concerns, emergencies, and other issues.

The matrix outlines several common scenarios and provides guidance on when to call 911, contact the Bozeman Police Department’s non-emergency line, request a mobile crisis response, contact Neighborhood Services, or address a situation directly when appropriate. The resource also includes contact information for key community partners, including Bozeman Police Department, City of Bozeman Neighborhood Services, HRDC, Connections, Inc., and the Gallatin Mobile Crisis Response Team.

Businesses are encouraged to keep the matrix accessible as a quick reference when determining the appropriate response to situations that may arise on or around their property.
