44th Annual Christmas Stroll

Saturday, December 7th from 4:30-7:30 PM

The Downtown Bozeman Association and Sweet Pea Festival are happy to once again present the Annual Gingerbread House Contest, brought to you in part by the American Legion Post #14. The Christmas Stroll Gingerbread House Contest has been a community tradition for well over 20 years, and this year is no exception! We invite you to participate in this fun activity!


How to participate in the Gingerbread House Contest at the Christmas Stroll:

  • Read the Gingerbread House Contest Rules below and submit the Gingerbread House Contest application NO LATER than 5 PM on Friday, November 29th.
  • Create a tasty work of art!
  • Deliver your entry on Friday, December 6th between 2-6 PM to Sweet Pea Festival volunteers at the American Legion, second floor event space (225 E Main, separate door east of the bar entrance).
  • View and vote during the Annual Christmas Stroll Gingerbread House Contest, located on the second floor event space at the American Legion, on Saturday, December 7th from 2:30-7:30 PM.
    • No purchase necessary to win! Winners will be notified by the phone number or email address provided on the registration form. Three winners will be chosen from each of the 5 divisions (Children: 6 and under, Children: 7-12, Teens: 13-17, Adults: 18 and over, & Professional Baker/Pastry Chef) and one "People's Choice Award" to be voted on by contest attendees. for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as a prize package including Downtown Dollars, Sweet Pea Festival Day passes, and other great prizes!
  • Pick up your entry on Sunday, December 8th between 12-4 PM.

Gingerbread House Contest Rules:

  1. Entries must be composed of entirely edible materials, except for the mounting base and electrical lighting systems. No steel, wood, or other supporting systems and no covered wrappings.
  2. Mounting bases should not be larger than 4x the size of the structure.
  3. All outdoor scenery items (e.g. trees, shrubs, animals) must also be made of edible material.
  4. Scale: No larger than 1/2" = 1.0'
  5. Parents are encouraged to give guidance to the Children's Division entries, but to allow children to make the structure themselves.
  6. Registrations must be submitted by 5 PM on Friday, November 29th.
  7. Gingerbread House entries must be delivered on Friday, December 6th between 2-6 PM to the Sweet Pea Festival volunteers at the American Legion, second floor event space (225 E. Main Street; entrance can be found East of main entrance; elevator access through the American Legion).
  8. Entries will be judged on Saturday, December 7th by a curated panel of judges for originality and creativity for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and again by the public for People's Choice.
  9. Three winners will be chosen in each of the five divisions, and one People's Choice Award will be given*. Winners will receive a ribbon as well as a prize package including Downtown Dollars, Sweet Pea Festival day passes, and other great prizes!
  10. Entries will be displayed by the American Legion Second Floor Event Space Saturday, December 2nd from 2:30-7:30 PM.
  11. Entries must be picked up on Sunday, December 8th between 12-4 PM. Entries will not be stored after 4 PM.

*People's Choice Award ballots can be purchased at the door for $1. All donations go to Sweet Pea Festival.
