Montana had a need for soul music. The Hawthorne Roots took their passion and talent and revved up the genre to another level. The original songs by sisters Emma and Madeline Kelly and Michael DeJaynes have garnered this five piece Bozeman group positive attention and a loyal fan base. Defined by their tightly woven harmonies and relentlessly catchy melodies, The Hawthorne Roots bring a distinctly unique and exciting sound to the Montana music scene. In 2015 The Hawthorne Roots were voted Bozeman’s best new local band and best folk act. In 2016 they received the award for best folk act again. The singers are backed by bassist Dustin Crowson, guitarist Lucas Mace, and drummer/vocalist Michael DeJaynes. Their live performances channel positive energy that connects with the audience and makes for an unforgettable show.
Satsang is a conscious music collective. Creating a unique blend of soul, folk-rock and hip-hop, Satsang delivers lyrics that come from and are rooted in change, growth, awareness, and imperfection. The live show is everything that the band name suggests: a gathering of people to assimilate and share their truths. The rhythms put forth by the band keep everyone on their feet, and the lyrics leave them craving active and positive change. Satsang has toured all over the country and has shared the stage with the likes of Michael Franti & Spearhead, Steel Pulse, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Trevor Hall, Chris Berry, Mike Love, Jon Wayne and the Pain, Tubby Love, and many more.
Down North masterfully mixes underground rock and party-fueling soul, regularly lifting up audiences that have been craving new soul sounds from the city that gave the world Wheedle’s Groove and Jimi Hendrix.
Down North’s upcoming new line-up debut will still feature the bold and sensual talents of lead vocalist/dancer Anthony “RenaGade” Briscoe, whose North Carolina-bred approach to making fans swoon has
no equal in the Pacific NW. Raised on Michael Jackson and Sam Cooke, Anthony is as stylish and emotional as Prince in his vocal expressions. Co-leader Brandon Storms is an extremely versatile
bassist-guitarist who writes much of the music and taps into his love for everything from Hendrix to James Jamerson in making tunes both infectious and substantial.
Paige And The People's Band are a new act, hitting the stage in 2016! However, members of Paige and The People’s Band have been, charming, captivating and blowing the collective minds of audiences throughout the U.S. and Europe for many years. Sharing the stage with such musical legends as BB King, John Hiatt, Willie Nelson, The Doobie Brothers, Lyle Lovett, Pat Benatar, Kenny Loggins aaand that’s enough name dropping. An eclectic mix of Funk, Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Folk and Pop music from some of the best known and least known artists! Including, Aretha Franklin, Sia, Earth Wind and Fire, Lake Street Dive and some lesser known acts such as, Snarky Puppy, Rubblebucket, Zaz, Quantic Soul Orchestra and their own original works. Paige And The Peoples Band enjoy mixing it up, keeping their performances fresh and different. They keep the dance floor popping and not just with the same tired hits. The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine (SGFM) is a funk band out of Bozeman, Montana, specializing in good times. Featuring a core group of experienced pro players, SGFM is all about the groove and all about the fun. With a heavy dose of James Brown and Motown, SGFM's not afraid to throw in a few funky twists on modern hits, and not above a few chunks of cheesy lounge disco. This is a party band, a get-off-your-butt-and-dance band, a here-to-pay-some-respect-to-the-grooves-of-yesterday band. When it's time for lettin' it all hang out, it's time to turn on The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine.
The Whiskey Gentry has been tearing up the road for the better half of the last decade, logging over 150 shows each year, and winning over crowds at major festivals such as Shaky Knees, Shaky Boots, Merlefest, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, FloydFest and many others. With the release of Dead Ringer they’ll continue this trend, bringing their raucous, high-energy shows to audiences from coast-to-coast.
Described as “High-Octane Rocky Mountain DanceGrass”, Whitewater Ramble (WWR) uses a simple recipe to craft it’s sound: start with bluegrass instrumentation, add drums, and finish with a boundary-less approach to grassing-up everything from disco house grooves to roots to Americana. The Colorado-bred quintet combines the elements of mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar, upright bass, drums and vocals to explore the musical boundaries of multiple genres and to fuel their own mixture of original music and innovative cover song interpretations. Whether playing an intimate encore, acoustic and unplugged in the crowd, or surfing on top of the upright bass, Whitewater Ramble delivers a powerful and memorable live performance.
