Bozeman, Montana based photographer Courtney Grigg receives her inspiration from nature.
“I am in constant awe of the breathtaking nature, wildness and open space that surrounds me. My work emphasizes patterns, textures, and abstract forms that can occasionally be difficult to visualize. I prefer a simple clean aesthetic to evoke emotion on the part of the viewer. I want the viewer to engage their own feelings, rather than just observe the image.”
She remembers taking her first picture at the age of 5. There was something about the click of the camera and the manual advancing of the film that hooked her. From that moment the artist in her was born. “I see the world through a viewfinder and can find art in everyday things. There’s beauty all around us that we don’t take the time to stop and see, that’s what I try to capture in my work.”
