William Hawkins Hunter

William Hawkins Hunter was raised in Bozeman Montana and knew he was going to be an artist since he was six years old. With the love and support of family and friends his dream became a reality. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and received a BFA in Illustration in 1997. Hunter later attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California from 2000-2001 studying Film and Art Theory. Hunter returned to Bozeman in 2001 and attended Montana State University earning an MFA in Painting. Will Hunter has worked in a number of mediums throughout his career, while primarily focusing on acrylics. His work covers a number of subjects with his major influence being cinema and film advertising from the 1960’s and 70’s. Hunter is inspired by the bold, colorful and clean design of movie posters from this era.
